The instrument now  installed in St Mary's Church in Marshchapel is a fine example of the work of the Hull organ builders Forster and Andrews.  Built in 1890, and first installed in Richmond Congregational Church, it has been in regular use for the last 50 years at Grove Hill Methodist Church in Middlesbrough.

In addition to promising a huge improvement of sound quality and variety for all services, this new organ will offer far greater facility for, amongst other things, recitals, use in concerts, and opportunities for anyone wishing to learn the instrument. Further, it will contribute much to the appearance of St Mary's with a brighter and cleaner facade into the chancel and a hugely enhanced prospect of the organ chamber arch at the head of the north aisle.

The work of installation was carried out by Henry Groves & Son Ltd. Organ Builders of Nottingham.

The Inaugural Recital will be given by

COLIN WALSH

on Thursday 9th October at 7pm (£3 programme on door)
