The Whitfield Ensemble

The group was brought together by the late Jack Whitfield, through their mutual interest and enjoyment of the classical guitar.

Three former members went on to study at music colleges, and another left to pursue further his professional interests in other aspects of guitar performance. Kate and Ian also formed their own duo in 1993, and continue to perform as The Katriane Duo.

As Grimsby Guitars the group have performed extensively to many Lincolnshire audiences, gaining a reputation for a diverse but accessible repertoire of popular, light and classical music. As the Whitfield Ensemble the group remain dedicated to providing a show case for the versatility of the classical guitar.

The Musicians are :

Mark Holmes- Classical guitar and Bass

Carole Edwards- Classical guitar and recorder

Ian Maxwell- Classical and Flamenco guitar

Kate Baker-Classical guitar and Flute
